If you have a “functioning” OS using whatever version you have loaded, I highly recommend locking down whatever drivers you have and to not allow any further updates to be installed.Similar to issue #79 and #300. They will eventually out-date the LSTC version you have installed. The changes in our driver updates match security and feature changes as they are released by Microsoft for mainstream Windows. If Dell’s latest driver updates are used and maintained, it would be a matter of time before you will experience compatibility issues. The needed drivers would have to be matches to the closest release date of the particular version of LTSC that you have. LTSC is a “locked” OS version that is only supported by Microsoft. Our drivers are written for compliance with the latest versions of Professional, Enterprise and Home Windows 10. We can’t guarantee total usability between our hardware and any Long Term Support OS version from Microsoft. We only certify it on a very limited offering for IOT (Internet of Everything) type devices which use an imbedded OS. However, be aware that Dell did not certify LTSB or LTSC on any Latitude system. When you moved to LTSC Windows, this got you to the minimum of 1803. The chipset on the Latitude 5300 will not support anything older than 1803 (Spring 2018) and preferably 1809 (fall 2018). LTSB Windows limits the “revision” to Windows to something equal to 1709 (Fall 2017 Creators Update). This news changes the case dramatically and I can provide a hard answer on why this is the case. Came here to say just this here is dell's response:
